History:
|
As a child I was originally influenced by some Sega Master System Games (Lemmings, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ghouls & Ghosts, Desert Strike) and spent quite a bit of time playing games on our family Amstrad CPC (Skweek, Roland on the Ropes ^_^ ). Infused with the desire to create games and mighty ideas of my own I began drawing 'playable' levels on paper for both real and imagined games. Fortunately I was soon given access to the user manuals for our Amstrad and I learnt alot figuring out AMSBASIC.
We eventually got a PC and I was inspired by even more games (Raptor, Hi-octane, Doom). I also started QBASIC and happily enough wasn't too different from AMSBASIC.
I was still equally involved in artistic pursuits and had been involved in creating comics for my highschool newsletter and the Melbourne College of the Arts student magazine (which my cousin was editor of at the time).
During highschool I began HTML\Javascript and C++. Whilst still continuing with the later to the present, I still more Artistically-motivated and finally my art was able to connect with my programming experience; modifying Doom's graphics\levels and then beginning 3D-Modelling\Level Design (which is where I'd prefer to be working) in Year 9 with Quake 2 and since then Quake 3, Wolfenstein Enemy Territory: and UT2k4.
I graduated from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment in 2004, having done a Diploma of Computer Games Design & Development. I was a lead level designer in 'Roach Rage' (the 2nd place finalist in AGDC 2004's Best Unsigned Independent Game) designing most of the level concept art and two of the levels. Additionally during the early stages I was involved in developing the initial character concepts for the game with another member of the team.
